Welcome to Bee Line Community Theatre Company
Based in Pembrokeshire, founded in 2004, our aim is to entertain and educate, developing and drawing on the talents of people in West Wales in order to contribute to the cultural life of the area . . . and beyond. We want to make high quality, challenging work but always with the emphasis on fun. We’re always looking for anyone interested in joining us, and opportunities for sponsorship.
We’re now planning our next project! It will be a touring performance of Swarm Fever, a new musical by Peter Oram and Alex Barr. It’s the story of Abbie, the worker bee who wishes she was a queen, and Melissa, sole survivor of a hive with colony collapse disorder. We’re aiming for a date sometime in 2010. We’re already applying for funding and looking for singers and musicians, and designers for lighting and costumes.
Since 2004 we’ve been busy. In August 2006 we took Average Minotaur, a full-length play by Alex Barr, to the Edinburgh Fringe and on tour in West Wales. In November 2007 we did Pieces of Pinter at Theatr Gwaun, Fishguard (A Kind of Alaska, Victoria Station, and Family Voices). Also in 2007 we ran theatre skills workshops in Fishguard and Haverfordwest, and under the heading Dramatic Pauses performed some six-minute plays at Merlin Theatre Haverfordwest and other local venues. In 2008 we did a rehearsed reading of Alex’s play After Jericho at Theatr Gwaun.
